Usambara Eco Tours can arrange various hikes, walks and Safari in the area offering a natural and historical richness, cultural symbolism of the Usambara region. We happily organize taxi rides, mountain bikes, motorcycles (boda boda), buses tickets and overnight stays at carefully selected lodges, home-stays, hotels, convents etc. in order to make your stay as smooth as possible.

 

On request, we can arrange personalized itineraries with our experienced, local guides. Guests can explore a wide range of exciting excursions directly from our base in Mtae or a location of your choice in the Usambara mountains.

 

Venture a bird-watching experience, looking for the very rare Taita Falcon nest nearby the cliffs, hike to the ancient Mambo caves and discover the prehistoric footprints. Walk through Shagayu rain forest with its stands of great trees, waterfalls, and incredible biodiversity. Hike down to Ndungu Lake, with its tranquil setting of rice fields teeming with monkeys and bird-life. Safari to Mkomazi National Park, one of the newest wildlife parks in Tanzania.

 

The climate is temperate (though it can be chilly in the evenings) and offers a beautiful environment for hiking. The Usambaras are at a perfect altitude for acclimatization  Mt. Kilimanjaro or Mt. Meru climb.

 

All our hikes intensity and length can be adapted to you physical condition, expectations or even disabilities. Most of our guests enjoy a bit of relax, meditation or even a yoga class. You can visit the local football pitch and join a soccer game with the smiley locals, enjoy breathtaking views and romantic sunsets from the cliffs along the villages. 

 

Pay a visit to the local artisans and artists, meet a traditional healer, shop in the vibrant weekly markets, or get a cup of coffee at a local cafe.
